Difficult to connect.

Whoever designed it never connected it. You need to split the loom just enough to get enough length for the wires on the front to hang from the back of the connector. There isn't enough room to run all the cables on one side or the other of this pole unless you have a small trailer cable. The metal body is good but I won't settle for the cheaper ones as they are nicer.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Secret

Sturdy enough, best in couplers

I'm not a fan of plastic but this one was strong enough. Although the plastic mount was unusable. It will most likely break my trailer in about ten seconds. One thing I didn't like was the way the wires go in. The entry point for the wires is exactly where there is a metal center piece that the two plastic sides screw onto with a screw. Because of this, it was quite difficult to route the wires to the connectors. I managed to shoot it with 14ga wires but it wasn't easy.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Crumpled

Solid feel for coupler connector

I haven't been using this connector for very long but so far it works well. The terminals inside are quite large and easy to connect. It took a little more effort to put the cable clamp back together. (It depends on what cable you're using.) I was a little worried about the angle at which the cable exits the connector. In the picture it appears to be at an angle of about 40 degrees (it isn't). The outlet on my truck should face away from the trailer, not down. After installation and testing…

Worst wiring I have ever experienced otherwise good product after assembly

Worst wiring I have ever experienced otherwise good product after assembly. I had to countersink a slightly larger stainless steel screw hole to hold the two (black) body parts together. Revain's other comments about trying to connect the trailer wires and install them into the connector are spot on: it took me over an hour to wire up and then install a larger screw to hold the connector together. Also, I recommend anyone assembling this to add 100% clear silicone sealant around the rubber…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Almost OK

Very poor design, low current rating element, blocked wiring path

Please note that this connector cannot use cable over 18ga. They designed it so that there is a blockage with a metal clip that the case screw goes through, holding the parts together and blocking direct wiring. It also has a very low rating (6-8 amps) so keep an eye on your brake and brake light readings. to plan. I had a 30 amp circuit and was having a real problem running 2 10ga wires from the hole on the back of the lock to the ends of the pins. Then the plastic grip came loose and I had to

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Vulgarity

It costs a little more but it's worth it

This is the best fork you will find. Positive: The case is made of metal and well made. The plastic on the front of the fork is heavy and fits well. The screws that hold the wires are well made. The flat plug connection simplifies the wiring. Directions and scheme are ready. The clip that holds the connector when not in use is heavy and holds up well. The path of the ConsWire on the back is not intuitive. It's not difficult once you get the hang of it, but it does require a bit of manipulation.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings, everything is fine

This is an odd kit. While the body is metal and very strong, the plastic working end is only held in place by a small screw through the metal body that threads into a piece of plastic less than 1/4 inch thick. When connecting and disconnecting, a large load is placed on it. There is no cable clamp to keep tension on the wire. Of course you can tie the cables to the metal rod inside as suggested, but this makes later disassembly more difficult. My setup now has individual cables in an outer…

  • Delivery was very quick

Sturdy construction, wiring could be better

This was a useful update to our trailer's factory fork which seldom made a good connection without dragging the corroded contacts. Contacts look good. The included bracket is a nice bonus, although you'll probably want to use different screws when attaching it to your trailer's tongue steel beams - those 'self-drilling' screws won't cut it and something with a hex head makes it easy to apply the torque needed to biting steel is required. The only reason I'm removing the star is because the…

Reliable and easy to fit 7 pin towbar connector

This was exactly what I was looking for. Rugged connector with strong wire connection points. Thick blade connections, strong screw terminals, the metal case will not break in use, and the cable guide protects the cable from being pulled out. The outgoing wire is at a slight angle, probably mimicking the wire's natural slack. be when connected. This is not a problem. Overall, the housing feels good in the hand for plugging in and unplugging a car plug. The supplied metal terminals on screw…
