I have always tried to buy original ink or replacement cartridges to save money. I always had problems with the printer, either they stopped printing or they just stopped working together. Now I don't know if HP does this to ensure you buy their inks, but I've always had better luck with genuine HP inks. I like to pay extra for XL cartridges because it saves some money and you get more bang for your buck.

I bought this some time ago with an expiry date of May 2019. Put it in the printer, print about 2 pages with some color on it, now it's down to 1/3 capacity and I'm getting the low ink message I got last week when I put it in. It's too late to return it and I think they don't refill the cartridges properly, not the amount of ink in them is XL, not even the usual amount. HP recently switched to "regional" cartridges. Once you put one of these new "regional" cartridges in your device, all of your old cartridges will stop working. HP will not replace your old cartridges or refund partially used cartridges in your device. I would think long and hard about buying an HP product as it could change again.
