Description of ๐ŸงŠ IcePC M.2 2280 SSD Pure Copper Heatsink Kit Cooler - Heat Sink with Silicon-Based Thermal Pad for Cooling M.2 SSD, NGFF SSD, and NVME SSD (70x20x4mm)

Support the NGFF SSD type 70x20mm. Pure copper (401W/mk) has higher thermal conductivity than pure aluminum (237W/mk). Heat exchanger can exude heat faster by heat exchange through contact with air. This radiator is suitable for Laptop and some narrow spaces, and through the professional air duct design, it increases the contact area with air for heat exchange, and it can dissipate heat more quickly. Please place the silicone cooling pad between the heat sink and the SSD to prevent damage to the SSD and protect the particles of the SSD, which can effectively extend the life of your SSD.

Reset the temperature of the SSD by 20 degrees.

I am using a Samsung 970 EVO on the back of my ROG Strix X570-I Gaming. It's housed in an NR200P case, so the back of the motherboard doesn't get much airflow and there's no room for the fan. My SSD regularly gets up to 90C, but after installing the 2mm version of it, the temperature dropped to 70-77C. Update: The silicone straps that came with the heatsink broke after a few days. The heatsink itself still works, but I'm concerned that it's not as reliable now.

Great for the M.2 connector on the back of the motherboard (2mm)

I have multiple M.2 drives on my Asus ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha and unfortunately the third slot is on the back boards and has terrible Cooling. , no space for standard size radiators. Attached is a picture, it's a pretty ordinary place for some reason, although accessing the back of the motherboard is incredibly inconvenient. On my Sabrent Rocket 4.0, my temps (without the heatsink) went from 55ยฐC idle to a maximum of 84ยฐC under Crystal Disk Mark, up to 45ยฐC idle and 55ยฐC after the heatsinkโ€ฆ

No improvement - fans and cooling

No improvement in cooling when using the included thermal pad. I decided to omit the heatsink as it caused my SSD to cool down much more slowly - it almost acted as an insulator. For my application there was little airspace in its place, so others' results may vary depending on the size of the case and the amount of airspace.

Cons
  • Out of fashion

Pretty good for passive cooling

I ordered a 4mm radiator and it does the job perfectly. I've seen an average drop of 9 cents at rest and during heavy transfers. Please note that there are protective films on both sides of the thermal pad that need to be removed for installation. I almost skipped them as they are very thin and hard to see. I would also recommend removing any stickers you may have on your m.2 2280 for better grip and contact with the chips.

Pros
  • Fan and cooling
Cons
  • Nothing here
