To be honest I bought it because it was cheap. However, I was shocked at how cheaply made it was when it arrived. I didn't expect it to last more than a couple of weeks. What a surprise! It does a great job of keeping my laptop cool and no matter how bad I treat it, it just keeps running. I repeatedly dropped it, sat on it, ripped out the string, my 123 pound dog walked on it, chewed on it and threw it across the room. and it still works. I have a Compaq Presario CQ62. Simply put, it has an overheating problem. I've never seen a Compaq that didn't make it after a few months. Do not buy this article. It does what it's supposed to do, but the smell of cheap plastic is absolutely unbearable. Smells awful. I put it on a blanket with the laptop on it for about half an hour. After I removed it, my duvet still smelled like cheap, nasty plastic from the product. I had to wash up. I'll try to describe the smell a little better. It smells like a whole pile of plastic has been thrown into the fire. That's exactly what it smells like. Burnt plastic.
