Scrapped after a few months

I needed a gauge to check wood thickness in my CNC shop. Regular calipers seem to work, but I need something that will measure the thickness away from the edges of the material. Everything started well, but then problems with zero retention started. Changed the battery several times, didn't help. If I leave it on for a few minutes and then work with jaws open/closed, it settles down to the point where it can be used. A real PITA when trying to plane wood to a very specific size. And the ON/ZERO

Pros
  • Shows INCH / METRIC / DRI
Cons
  • Crumpled

Detail view well suited for testing, measuring and checking

I can't believe I waited so long to buy something like this. I regularly work with a laser cutter and awkwardly measure the thickness of the material with calipers. This instrument measures thickness much faster. This allows me to get to the very edge, which is especially useful when I want to check the thickness of the rubber, which can vary. It's nice to be able to easily pull pieces of material out of the stack and measure them with great accuracy without pulling them out all the way just to

Pros
  • Super hard carbide tips.
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

This thing is a SAFETY. I make chef's knives, I constantly check the thickness of the blades at all kinds of points, both along the edge and in the middle of the blade. I gotta tell you, there's "more" to the world of knives than you think. I used traditional locksmith tools: mostly digital calipers; sometimes a micrometer, but a reading of say 1cm from the rim is not possible with a caliper (because the rim is thicker), and with a micrometer this is a problem. Now, with THIS suction cup, just…
