Deviation 2 times

I was confused that the inch and millimeter readings I received were too far off. I was about to throw it out when I realized it was wrong exactly 2 times (or 1/2 depending on how you look at it). In other words, a 1 inch object is 0.5 inches in size. An object that is actually 50mm is 25mm in size. Still a lousy situation, but I'm just multiplying the readings by two. If there's a way to fix this, who knows - no instructions were included. But aside from some reviewers, at least I have a…

You get what you pay for.

As a CNC machinist I should have known better than to buy such a cheap tool but the positive reviews fooled me. I needed a 4" caliper for tight setups with limited space where my 6" calipers would not fit. The problem with this is that the top and bottom rails are rough sawn, not sanded. You can actually see saw cuts on these surfaces. This results in rough, jerky movements that don't inspire confidence in their accuracy. It might be fine for occasional, non-critical use, but it looks like I'll

Pros

Cons
  • Could have gone for a newer model

Suitcase not included? on caliper

This caliper is just what I need, it's fairly accurate to within 0.05mm which is a pretty acceptable tolerance at the moment but the label precision is more incorrect Surname. I'm saving for Michituyo! I like the feature that turns on when moving, my last set didn't have this. It was strange that I didn't have a case! Not the end of the world, because I can put my tool box in there, I guess. When I called Revain support they said the case was not included. However, I bought the re-boxed version

Pros
  • Hardened stainless steel shank with depth stop, precision ground jaws
Cons
  • So far so good
