The kit was good in every way. The directions are ok, they need to be slowed down and shown in more detail, but I don't think this is a task for a beginner. You must have an open area where you can apply ink. It might be dirty. My HP printer didn't like it when I tried to reuse old cartridges. I kept getting various errors which made the whole process more cumbersome. I use HP 902 cartridges. I use the XL model for black and normal versions for colour. My black XL was almost done so I drilled a hole in the rear chamber, slowly filled it up until I saw ink at the top, then used tape to seal it. Everything went well and it works as usual (except you have to turn off the ink level indicator). Little did I know that a refill of black ink would be enough for an XL cartridge. I use black a lot more than colors. I'll have to see if I can just buy black refills

I'm editing my original review as I assumed the cartridge was leaking and damaged my printer, but after installing a new one it works perfect . For some reason, refilling a color cartridge changes the color of all the ink in it to green. I made sure I put the right color in the right slots by checking the hole with a toothpick to see what color was in that spot and adjusted it. with ink, but one of them got mixed up, and now the cartridge only produces green color. So I guess I'll just bulk buy
