Works reasonably well in the CPU Processors

Was hoping for one of AMD's 5000 series processors but this was available at or near MSRP and didn't struggle with scalpers. It works and is a huge improvement over the almost 15 year old CPU and system it replaces. I didn't need the integrated graphics because I had an old but still good graphics card. Reasonable (lower than the old) power requirements.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Repair

Still a good value choice in early 2021!

With the Ryzen 5 3600 often being sold out or on sale lately, this processor performs well, especially in gaming tests. Easier to install and no need to worry about bent PGA pins!

  • Very Impressive

Very Good Alternative

If you can't find the Ryzen 5 3600 in stock, this is a great alternative. I've been using this chip for two months now and it hasn't disappointed me yet. Pretty good gaming performance for the price if you're on a budget. From what I've seen, you can even pair it with just about any RTX card with a slight bottleneck on high-end cards (I paired mine with a 2060). Remember this is a locked chip. No acceleration.

Pros
  • Intel Optane Memory Support
Cons

In early 2021, Intel somehow takes over the budget crown.

Wow. I've been wanting to build a cheap Ryzen build for a while, especially with the 2600x. Then prices decided to abandon ship and they almost doubled while inventory was halved. At $155, the 10400 offers incredible performance for the price. Intel decides to lock down overclocking and RAM speed with this chip, which sure is pretty stupid, but still works. To be fair, it can be paired with a 3080 without major bottlenecks (although it really shouldn't be). A very good buy. Just buy another…

Pros
  • Socket type LGA 1200
Cons
  • There are problems
