🔧 INTOO Forstner Wood Drill Set - 8pcs Review

First of all I would like to say that the bit set is excellent for the money. They cut wood like butter, there are no problems with hitting, and the place for each bit is conveniently marked on the body. The only problems arise when you first receive the kit. Each bit is individually wrapped in plastic and you must pull it out to fit in the case. The bits probably came loose during shipping, but this doesn't appear to have damaged the bits or the case itself. The case itself is pretty cheap…

Let me start by saying that the bits themselves are pretty good. I tested the 3/4 bit and the largest router bit on a fairly tough 2x4 piece and both cut through. However, the bits kept slipping because the shank is round and therefore difficult to tighten. I had to stop the big drill a few times to re-tighten and let the drill cool. So 1 star deducted for non-hex shanks that cause slippage when drilling. The second star was for the fact that my first shipment had a cracked "window" and bits…

I've only used them on one project: installing a thumb latch on my new fence gate. I had to drill 1/2" diameter holes through a 2x4 attached to a fence board so the actual overall thickness was 2 + 1/8" pressure treated pine. Not sure if it was the right type of wood but I was expecting it to chew that soft wood like butter but that wasn't my experience at all.
