Iomega Seems Best in Class for USB Hard Drives

This is my third Iomega. The first was a 40GB Silver portable drive. Worked great for over a year and I gave it to my son so he can finally back up his WinXP system. Then I bought a 120GB USB/Firewire Silver Portable and it worked great for over a year and then was just sent to a backup computer so I could buy a bigger one, my first Iomega, not the Silver Portable. I have read complaints about Western Digital, Maxtor and others on Revain regarding some very important shortcomings such as: B…

Works perfectly, ideal for business trips.

I travel regularly for business and work with large files over 100MB that take a long time to open over the internet in a hotel and VPN connection. I have this drive to store files that I work on on the go and it works great. No drivers or software required, just plug into a USB port and start creating folders and saving files. With so much storage space, I was even able to create a folder for copied movies to watch on the plane or at the hotel. The size is excellent, it's about the size of a…

It works and is inexpensive

. But don't rely on the "powered by USB" feature - although it has a 2-wire USB cable that lets you draw power from 2 USB ports at the same time, it's not 100% happy with just USB. It will certainly hang long enough to make a backup, but if you leave it plugged in, after a few hours it will start whining about a "delayed write error" as the system periodically writes something in the system volume information marked on the hard drive. .Likewise. Big little hard drive

Great little hard drive (I store all my music (Itunes and music) and photo programs on it). All of them are easily accessible by simply inserting a disc. (It treats it like a C drive) so there's no problem getting images from one drive and then changing them with a program on another. Also, my music and video files grew so large that they took up almost half of my hard drive. Since I didn't have a hard drive, my computer ran much faster, it has plenty of room for something so small. I recommend
