Works great in our app

Our church uses this device to embed audio from an HDMI video deck into TVs that are scattered around the church. It worked great out of the box and is still working a month or so later.

Compact and well made

I really like this company's product line. So much so that I bought 2 of these units compared to what another company was offering even though they cost more. size exceeds. Heck, this device is surprisingly compact. Another bonus is that all the boxes I've bought from them (mostly HDMI splitters) run on 5V 1A, making it easy to connect to USB power with the right cable.

Optical Embed: Dangerous

When using TOSlink/Optical input with this audio HDMI embedder, the device will output extremely loud junk audio artifacts for a few seconds when your output display is on *after* the rest of the system while it connects. When he first did this, one of my speakers got damaged. The only good thing here is that the speaker was still under warranty. The functional design of this device is completely loveless. I originally bought it to replace a cheaper unit that had annoying sync issues at times…

My application intentionally injects analog audio into a video-only HDMI signal. I checked several possibilities for the missing audio signal on the HDMI cable. Works right for me.

Just do the job!

I use this in combination with a digital mixer, a Hosa AES to S/PDIF converter and an ATEM Mini Pro to match audio to video for live broadcast purposes. I have audio coming from Soundcraft via AES/EBU XLR cables to a HOSA AES to S/PDIF optical converter. It then outputs to this unit via the optical input and I also output the video from the camera to the HDMI input. The HDMI output then connects to my ATEM and I enable audio on that channel/input. ATEM can't handle the black signal (it won't…

Does what it's supposed to do, no frills

This device replaces the audio built into the HDMI cable. There is a 3-position switch to select HDMI, TOSLINK or analog PCM input from RCA cables. HDMI passes through this block with substitute audio that is multiplexed at the output. No frills. That means no fading and no flow protection when switching sources.
