Fast I/O Card Reader

Bought to use with a Sandisk Extreme Pro Compact Flash card and it works like a charm. The transmission speed is fast. A full 16GB card in less than 3 minutes. The low price makes it a pleasure to try. My only complaint is that when you insert the card it looks like you can bend the pins if you don't insert them carefully. Not yet, but that's because I'm in no hurry to put the card in the slot. Not critical, but something to think about. Overall still a good card reader.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Has flaws

Great way to upgrade my old PC to USB 3.0

I had a PC over 2 years old that I connected to my Drobo Beyond Raid 4-Bay USB 2.0/FireWire 800 SATA 6GB/ Storage connected array with Drobo PC backup. Since I would be transferring a lot of data (videos and images) over the connection, I needed the fastest connection available. I chose this product over a Firewire card because I have more USB devices than Firewire in my home and the USB 3.0 spec is slightly faster than Firewire. This card came with the Windows drivers I needed, so all I had to

NOT a good experience! RATING SEE!

Very cheap assembly, never had much speed and basically died after about a month. It no longer shows up when using USB 3.0 and ONLY works when using USB 2.0! Transferring back and forth took forever. The cover was loose from the start and the logic board inside was never aligned with the card slots. When I inserted my 16G MicroSD card, the card actually slid OVER the PCB slot and INTO the case, forcing me to remove the (already loose) cover to get the card out! They do offer to replace it, but…

Fast but weak for computers and accessories

This is a fast card reader. So far I haven't had any errors reading or writing to memory cards. The only criticism is the flimsy design. The pins for the CF slot (which most pro photographers use) tend to bend a lot and I have to take it apart, pry it in and out with a micro screwdriver. A higher quality CF case with minimal lateral movement would likely solve this problem.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Annoying

Works well but seems fragile

I bought this reader to transfer video files from my Canon 7D DSLR (CF card) to a computer on the go. I haven't been able to test the USB3.0 speed yet), I'm worried about the build quality of the device. The reader is all plastic (cheap, lightweight plastic), which is to be expected (especially at this price point), but the CF connector is pretty flat, so I'm concerned the pins will bend when the person uses it not is very careful when inserting the card. If the port were deeper or there was…

Looks a bit flimsy but works very well

I ordered this with my Samsung Ultrabook. I needed USB 3.0 to be able to use this connection and didn't want to spend too much money. It took me a while to figure out how to insert the SD card, but once I figured it all works fine and easy. The design is a bit flimsy and plasticky, but I wasn't expecting anything less for the price. The reader is not designed for travel, it will be stored in a drawer under the computer so this is not a problem. A durable USB cable is included, which is nice as…
