Type of review

I work in the restaurant business and I've had a lot of mandolins, but this is by far the worst. The problem is the product holder, you can't hold the product steady and you get all these uneven cuts. To be honest I don't understand how this thing stayed on the market!

If you need finger security, use it.

I originally bought this product for use in one restaurant and when a company chef saw it I bought it for all 42 restaurants in the chain. I have now bought one for private use at home. They are versatile and safe to use and very easy to clean. If you cook a lot and need a mandolin, this is the ONE.

Slightly thin and uneven slices

I really wanted a portable ceramic blade carving knife that could rival my metal bladed mandolin on a stand, just for the sake of simplicity. I was disappointed with this slicer because the plastic base is too flexible to cut even multiple identical slices. (I'm not aiming for uniform thickness in the micron range, but about the same.) I'm also concerned that the plastic base will soon crack due to the flex it makes with things like carrots. And when I tried to cut the hard salami, she ripped…

Two stars for the good quality of the device

This is pretty well done, except for one small problem: it doesn't work. Two stars for the good quality of the device and a very negative rating for creating a product that deceives the customer into not doing what it was designed to do. The base, legs and all major components work very well, but the blades are poorly constructed and just won't cut food. These are thin sheets of mild steel impregnated with a plastic rod.
