JINBEI Aluminium Monolight Photography Compatiable Review

I was very impressed with this little gadget. It's very easy to mount to any Bowens light source and the beam adjustment made it a lot of fun to play with in portrait sessions. I love the drama of this focused light. 100% recommended.

I sent it (and the light) back because despite the low price it's not suitable for serious production work. The lens doesn't focus well - you can't get any sharp edges at your point, even up close. And there are quite a few spills around him. There are some good gels out there and the price is very low for those that will be included, but the replacement procedure is neither easy nor secure.

The description says it can scale from 10 to 40 but it doesn't. You cannot zoom in. Viewed with the eye alone, the focus is equivalent to that of a 50mm lens on a Source 4 light source. It's very soft. This makes the shadows very sharp. However, BIG glare is visible at the edges. I had high hopes for it, but it just didn't work out. Works well with Jinbei EF-150. Helps control light scatter. Appreciate the extra gels, although I wish there was a way to stack the gels, but the magnets aren't strong enough to hold more than one gel at a time.
