Very loose fit on my Koriko shakers

These things slid all over the opening of my Koriko shakers. It's not useless, but understand that you may have to rely on your hand to position the filter on purpose, rather than relying on a spring to hold it in place. The metal also looks cheap. I bought two, tried one, returned the second unused and just bought another Oxo which I think is better and more efficient.

  • Impressive

Best Hawthorne Screen

This is the best Hawthorne Screen I have ever used. The spring is really tight. So dense that citrus pulp can barely fit through, let alone slivers of ice from shaking. It's a bit pricey at $16 but will last forever so it's worth it. The only downside, like all hawthorn filters, is cleaning. I just leave it in hot, soapy water for a few minutes at the end of an evening cocktail and then swam it off. Works well, just a bit fiddly.

Good - Exactly as pictured (except for packaging)

I bought this product as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves it. He says it's easy to use and we both like its timeless look, unlike those that have all the wiring on the sides. I was a bit disappointed that the box it came in was broken and a bit torn - I bought this particular product because I also liked the packaging (important as it was a gift) but overall was it not the most important thing and we both happy with the end result.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

5 nights a week punishment

As a professional cocktail maker, I can raise my right hand and swear these things are of good quality. They are designed from the ground up to solve different problems than other gift filters. Dense spring is amazing. Mixed drinks are usually filtered twice through a fine sieve. I've actually given up on my beautiful strainer now that I'm using this Hawthorne strainer. This guy gets all the little things. It makes a pretty smoothie without worrying about mint bits getting stuck in your teeth.

Pros
  • hands-free work
Cons
  • confusing

Why have I waited so long?

I decided it would be fun to make a big deal of it if I enjoyed a tossed margarita from time to time. So, I've got the right glasses, a fruit reamer, a jigger, a Boston shaker. But it didn't work out until I finally thought about getting the damn sieve. Otherwise why bother when you're dripping and dripping all over the place, smashing little slivers of ice into your perfectly frozen and salted glasses. it's closed).

2 can not be cast at once?

I have an Oxo Strainer which I really like but the idea of being able to pour two drinks at the same time was too tempting so I bought this. It's been three months and I still haven't figured out how to reliably pour two drinks at once. The strainer has to be in the right balance, otherwise one glass will feel faster than the other. Also, unless you pour very quickly, my cocktail will inevitably drip into the shaker. Maybe other people can, but I haven't managed to get the hang of it yet. So a…

Exceptional quality filter.

I love making cocktails and anything to do with food and drink. I've had a cocktail strainer for 15 years and it serves its purpose perfectly. I bought this Hawthorne cocktail strainer from Top Shelf Bar Supply for a friend who didn't have a strainer. Not wanting to give my friend a poor quality product, I took it to inspect. As soon as I touched it, I knew I wouldn't give it up. I love well made products. The simpler the product, the harder it is to get it right. You did it right. The weight…
