They fit perfectly for my purposes. I have so many sweaters and I keep them folded on the top shelf of my closet. Over time, they fall on top of each other and a big mess ensues. These dividers fit easily around the edge of my wooden shelf and allow me to separate stacks of sweaters. It looks a lot neater and the baffles feel stable and sturdy. I was impressed with their durability. Attach them to a sturdy shelf - they won't work on wire shelves or anything flexible. My shelf is about half an inch thick wood and they snap easily into place, stand upright and hold stacks of 6-10 sweaters and 8-10 purses in place. It would be easy to use regular pliers to squeeze them together for a thinner shelf, or slightly pry them open for a thicker shelf, but I don't have to and I think they're probably fine for most shelves in a closet. This is my third purchase of this item. I bought a set for my daughter and she loved it. I bought a second set for the linen closet which you can see here. They worked like a dream. They are very strong and hold firmly to the wooden shelves. I had to use a rubber mallet to attach the dividers, but that wasn't a problem.
