A driver needs to be downloaded and installed for the touchscreen to work, but the included manual has very clear instructions. Great little screen. I don't use a touch screen and it wasn't very easy to assemble as the screws and bolts are very small and difficult to work with. But it's not that important, so don't get hung up on it. It is powered via micro USB. The acrylic protective case has broken twice already and I'm not sure if it should protect. It does not protect the circuitry on the back from ESD damage (which I've already failed on one of these screens) nor does it protect the front from tampering as the face of the LCD screen protrudes from under the bezel.
