The case is, to put it mildly, tight. The lid that claims to cover an external hard drive does not fully cover it when the drive is in the case. The case is sometimes difficult to close when the USB cable is in the pocket. If you buy this just be careful how you position everything in it and how you close it and you will be fine.

Attractive, safe, reasonably padded case. While the metal body could be more durable, this case seems to withstand most accidental drops with ease. Unlike a protector that fits easily in a jacket pocket, it is well designed to protect without adding extra weight. It would be difficult to fit the suitcase into anything other than a very large bag. But I prefer protection to convenience.

These are easy to use, durable cases when you need to transport or ship Passport or Element drives. I toss it in my backpack or gym bag, and no matter what, the ride arrives safe and sound. I tend to buy them the same way I bought motorcycle helmets - is your brain worth the price? Everything you need fits in: disc, cable, any notes or instructions I want to add.

This is a good enclosure for my LaCie 5TB external hard drive. It's a little tight on my hard drive, but it fits. I have to lock it around the edges but it protects when traveling. I hope that the elastic bands holding the hard drive in place will remain intact over time. Good clip slots and wrist grips which I don't want to use. So I put them in a small place to hold the trellis. You can also carry SD cards and USB sticks with you. Very good!

Too small for WD My Passport drive. It fits nicely in the cable pocket, but it's too flat in the padded drive area, and the valve shown in the product photo kind of wraps around the drive and only makes it halfway. This is very odd given that it is a tall chassis with plenty of room if it weren't designed for such a flat drive area. fits well.

This case is perfect for carrying my portable hard drive. It opens and closes smoothly and has room for a few extra cables, flash drives or SD cards. I usually leave it straight when in use, just open the lid and plug in the cable (although I have to adjust the hard drive a bit to access the connector). The case is semi-rigid with interior padding so I pack it very conveniently in my laptop bag when traveling. The build quality is solid and looks crisp even in red.

I have ordered two cases from this manufacturer, red and black. Although the description was slightly different, the price was the same and any differences were very small. Anyway, the cases are perfect for my external WD hard drives. I'm very happy with both cases and will be a regular customer when I buy additional external hard drives --- Let's face it, you're never going to need a lot of backups for your electronic data. Office, home, safe and briefcase. I highly recommend this case.

The cheaply made zipper handle broke on the first attempt to open the case. The toxic chemical smell that others have mentioned is really strong and awful. The case of my WD Elements portable external hard drive is so narrow that the USB cable bends when I close the case. (I love having the drive in a case, and most of the time it zips it up even when I'm using the drive.) And it's too tight to wrap my 6-foot USB cable in the case when traveling.
