🧦 Lacis Darning Egg Tool Review

I bought it to darn socks. Unfortunately it is too small for the heels, but suitable for the toes.

As I often poke socks in the big toe area, I bought this Lacis darning egg to make sewing a hole quick and easy.

I'M 77 AND NEVER THOUGHT I COULD GET ONE MORE BECAUSE WHO FIXES HUHI DO SOCKS ALSO THE FINGERS OF THESE GIRLS IN TIGHTS. MY COST A LITTLE SO REPAIR HAAAJOANN

Bought this as a gift for a friend who lost his darning egg. She says she loves him. This is a high quality hardwood. If I had bought it for myself I would have been disappointed that it was gone. If you had a big hole or heel I just can't imagine this 2.5 inch size would fit. Personally, I use an old lightbulb until I find a larger darning plug.

I'm at the age where I've found the 'perfect' sweater, jacket, pants, shirt. I would rather fix it than look for a replacement. It's amazing how many things "just don't hold up" or are made out of materials that won't last two washes. Or the color is not mine! It is a tool for learning the art of darning and mending. Nice to see when it's done. And time to enjoy the spirit of gratitude.

Some of us are trying to revive the 'old' art of darning socks. Firstly because we have bought some very expensive socks that are prone to seam holes and/or we have knitted them which is not only expensive but also time consuming to manufacture. Hoping to save them from the garbage, I decided to learn darning. You can find some great YouTube videos on this, but what's harder to find is a good darn. This seems to be the only one available commercially and is too small unless you're darning kid's
