Lang Tools 87 Heavy Pliers Review

Excellent for driving wheel bearings with corroded circlips on Honda and Toyota vehicles and possibly many others. I had to take the black tips and sand them down a bit to make them fit on the old civilian but still be strong enough to use on the new Honda almost every day. Never broken a tip. I used to take my big portable OTC style and hit it with a hammer to pry it out of the groove in the pivot, but 10 years later I was getting quite a few tips for about $30 each.

The first time I used it, the nut pulling the levers up loosened and the large (3" diameter) locking ring flew off. Gathered, but now it's hard to turn. Couldn't loosen the set screw to adjust where the nut ends up so it's squeezing the bottom. I sealed the nut tightly with red paint, making sure it didn't get into the space where the lead screw goes through the floor. Have used the tool on 5 other circlips. For an internal snap ring that can be an inch or two in the hub assembly or in the tube, this works amazing! For the gentleman who has had a very bad experience, you may need to learn how to use some tools safely! Place the correct size tips on the tool, making sure the tips are seated and aligned as you tighten the clamp {keep the tips straight - parallel at 90 degrees} on the retaining ring {TIPS}, not the tool - the retaining ring will come off easily! This has got to be the worst and most dangerous snap ring tool I've ever used in my shop! I didn't have a snap ring tool strong enough to remove the snap ring holding the axle assembly. I bought some snap ring pliers hoping one of them would help.
