Laplink USB Cables: Computer Accessories and Peripherals

cable received quickly. Since PCMover only came with an ethernet cable and my laptop didn't have an ethernet port, I had to order that cable. As soon as he plugged it in, PCMovr worked.

Worked well but could have been much faster

Worked great for transferring files, programs and applications from an old computer to a new one. I had trouble installing and running the software on both machines, but the Laplink website has an FAQ that helped - I just had trouble finding the write FAQ to read. Could have been faster - for USP 3.0 I thought it was slow so I deducted 1 star.

Great transfer duo: computer accessories and peripherals

I bought this cable to help PCMover transfer data from my old computer to my new computer. While PCMover is great for transferring alone, my network speed is pretty slow, and I found transferring quick and easy by adding this high-speed cable.

Okay only if you are tech savvy

I thought I'd try migrating my data to my new computer. As soon as I received the telegram, I worried that I didn't know what I was doing. Also, the technician advised re-downloading programs from websites instead of trying to port them.

Pros
  • Same as everyone else so far
Cons

Software not included.

That means you spend $30 to buy additional software. Truth? I returned when I found out about it. I bought another brand from Revain for $18 with software and it worked like a champ. To stay updated.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • Nothing here

You have to spend more money to use this product.

Laplink has changed its business model to focus on low prices and rip off consumers. Have used their products in the past and have been very satisfied. Not anymore and I unsubscribed from their mailing list. I see no reason to deal with them in the future. Unlike other Laplink USB cables, this one is useless as a standalone product. User also has to buy some expensive software from Laplink to have any cable utilities. When I complained to the company, they offered me a "discount price" for PCโ€ฆ

Product was defective

I expected this cable to save a lot of time, but unfortunately the cable was defective and interrupted the transfer process between computers more than 8 times. I sent it back today and I'm using wireless, it's been two days and the transfer is still going on.

Ordered for easy transfer

I bought PCMover from Best Buy and it came with an ethernet cable but after reading some reviews saying the cable didn't work too well I took some advice from others and opted for a high-speed USB cable instead of transferring over the Internet. I followed all the pre-transfer instructions and the cable was recognized when plugged in and the transfer went smoothly. I was glad I ordered the USB cable because I avoided the frustration of some of the other reviewers. . Are you planning to useโ€ฆ

Follow the instructions and it works great when you do.

PCMover software worked fine. Unfortunately, when I bought a new PC from HP, they sent me a PCMover with an Ethernet cable that didn't work on my old or new PC. Make sure you bought the correct cable. I had to go to Revain to buy a Laplink 6' USB 3.0 SuperSpeed transfer cable for PCmover. Once I did that, everything worked. However, I recommend reading the instructions to make sure you turn off your security software, firewalls, and power options. After speaking to the folks at LapLink, theyโ€ฆ
