A RAINBOW IS BETTER THAN AN EQUAL PRISM

to achieve a rainbow effect. If you use a rectangular prism, all you have to do is point it at right angles to the sunlight to see the rainbow.

Pros
  • PHYSICAL EXPERIMENTS || Great for physics class. Ideal for bending light rays by 90 degrees, as a retroreflector and for many other experiments in optics, light refraction, spectrometry and wavelengths
Cons

Not for rainbows for optics

I use prisms on my windowsill, to project a rainbow onto the wall. Glass prisms sometimes fall and break and throw broken glass. I wanted to try plastic so I bought this rectangular prism. I found that rectangular prisms are not good for creating rainbows. Rainbow prisms are equilateral side to side bottom. They should be pointing down.

Pros
  • 2.9" LENGTH || The prism is 2.9" (74mm) long and has a 2" (50mm) hypotenuse
Cons
  • I'll write later

You get a rainbow, but not like the other side of the moon

Disappointing as I wanted to create a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon effect. That creates a spectrum, but not what the album cover looks like. It is actually an EQUISIDES triangle that creates this view, not a right prism. Again, it manages a spectrum, but not at the angles shown on the album cover. My mistake. So if you know what you're looking for and it's the right prism, you're good to go. If you think you're going to recreate Pink Floyd, you'll be disappointed if you don't choose the…

Pros
  • PHOTO || Great for photography with lighting and distortion effects
Cons
  • Obsolete model
