It’s perfect for what I needed it for. to get my bed back but let my babies still feel close to me. My Boston terrier (27 pounds) and frenchie (20 pounds) actually fit in it together on the top bunk but just slightly tight. I don't usually write reviews, but my dogs are so happy about having this bed I had to write a review. I had to downsize to a twin XL bed. When my dogs got in bed, there was no room for me to sleep! My dogs have always slept with me so this was a huge issue! Izzy (half golden retriever/brittany spaniel-75 lbs.) and Bella (tricolored australian shepherd-75 lbs.) were so confused as to where they'd sleep. To my surprise, they loved the pet bed. I'm sad we didn't buy this sooner! My dog loves this and sometimes prefers it over my bed. It's sturdy enough that my youngest climbs into it to snuggle with our chihuahua. We bought things to pad it up more than it was but it is excellent without doing that. My dog mostly uses the top but the bottom is perfect for the dogs that like the den affect.
