Do it right with the right tool

This worked great when building my LS motor. I've used others that didn't have a retaining clip and didn't work as well as this one. I've read other reviews about using a chrome back plate, it wasn't a big deal to me but I'm sure it can cause problems in certain lighting. I highly recommend this tool.

Well made tool on a hand tool

Much stronger and easier to tune than the cheap ones I've looked at. The pointer is closer to the digital scale, so it's easier to read accurately if you can't look directly at the scale. The dial can be glaring if exposed to too much light, and the numbers are a bit smaller than some because they're more commonly used to represent degrees. In my opinion, those limitations outweigh its strengths, and I'm very happy with it.

  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons

Was a little concerned after reading some reviews but the unit works great if you are working in a dimly lit area with no lighting. I could see how you might have trouble reading numbers but for me it worked with a headlamp and had no problems but my vision was perfect. Worked great on my wife's BMW X3 and used as a replacement for the oil pan gasket and rear main gasket. Much better than just guessing.

Torque technology at a great price

These tools are always a bit awkward to use, especially when working on under car suspension components. I've found that sometimes it can be a challenge to hold the front of the instrument in a position where I can read it while still finding a place to place the necessary extension and ratchet. Tool. however, works as advertised and indicates the angle of rotation in degrees that the ratchet rotates the fastener. The bottom line is you need one of those torque protractors to feed the bolts and

This is better than cheap goniometers but I find the numbers very difficult to see. To make the back "chrome" and thus reflective is just idiotic. In cramped spaces and at an angle, it is impossible to see the numbers. Bottom line, he's doing his job. It just doesn't make it easy. Also, the dial locking screw loosens unexpectedly and needs to be checked EVERY TIME. Too easy to forget, I don't like it. When you're working with a $40 BMW bolt, you don't want to risk it.

Smooth as butter! - Hand and power tools

This is the one to buy! I bought another one at a lower price and the dial lock method was a little stick. While it worked well, the dial stuck and I had trouble finding the attachment point when tightening the set of main bolts. I watched a YouTube video of the process and he used this tool to explain why it's good. that the cable method didn't seem like it would work properly, but I'm here to say it works fantastic! The difference actually lies in the way the dial is attached, so slick I…

Works as intended but broken

The tool is not of the highest quality but good for occasional use. I had two problems. First, the flexible cable is attached to the head of the pressure gauge with a pressed "rivet”. This rivet came loose and the cable came loose. I fixed it by threading a rivet hole and installing a set screw. The second issue is that the 1/2" drive is very loose on the ratchet and nut. This sloppy fit makes the gauge somewhat inaccurate and the gauge has a tendency to fall off the ratchet when moved. And a…

Made with pride in the USA? It does what it's supposed to do.

Bought this tool at a reasonable price to replace head gaskets on a 2004 Chevy Impala. It worked, but the sticker on the numbered disc wasn't in the center of the tool and was hanging off the side. It doesn't matter, but this instrument was made in the USA! Does anyone have ONE task of directly sticking the sticker on and can't get it right? That makes me a little sad. Another problem with the tool is that the clip and cord that goes into the side of the tool keeps falling out because they are…

Not quite happy with wrenches

Another tool that could have been made a lot better for the price. Pros: Sturdy 1/2" drive, flexible mounting arm with clip-on end. Cons: Poor production. Quality, sloppy detail tolerances, VERY hard to see the shiny "silver" scale. First of all the degree scale is off-centre and while not that critical in practice it shows poor craftsmanship and basically something Lyle doesn't care about his customers The scale reflects light making it VERY difficult to measure accurately see where the…

This is probably the closest thing to a digital L-key.

Probably the closest digital angle wrench to an expensive one. I had a cheap Fel Pro that I used for many years and I really hated holding the meter with one hand and turning the latch with the other and my face turned blue from the exertion and wished I had more hands or more movement. Very uncomfortable. This makes work considerably easier. Frees your hands. Four stars because the dial is hard to read, but neither is the Fel Pro. Simple solution: I marked the zero angle with color and the…
