Description of πͺ LMT Onsrud Uncoated Diameter 65-026
Solid carbide tools offer long tool life and faster cutting speeds than other substrates, but are more brittle and must be used with rigid toolholding systems. Uncoated tools feature just the base substrate without any additional treatment or coatings and are suitable for a wide range of applications. Round shanks allow use with a wide variety of toolholding systems. When run in a counterclockwise direction (right-hand cut) spiral fluted tools evacuate chips up and out of the cut to reduce clogging.
This milling accessory is a game-changer in the industrial and scientific field. It cuts through any material effortlessly and precisely, and its uncoated diameter increases the tool's longevity. The reliable sharpness saves money and time while increasing productivity. The only downside is that it may pose a higher risk of tool wear in overly abrasive applications. Overall, the LMT Onsrud 65 026 is an excellent investment for any machining job.
Pros
Effective for wood, plastic and aluminum materials
Cons
Less effective on harder materials like steel or titanium
I use these bits to cut two materials. With 1/4" deep passes I can cut 2x6 and the spiral pass clears chips with ease and without heating up the cutting tool.
These bits are ideal for small CNC machines that cannot handle the high feed rates that a 2 or 3 flute cutter requires. I don't know why the previous reviewer didn't recommend it for wood; I've had the best results on hardwood and Baltic birch I've ever used. Just make sure your RPM and feedrate are set for the right chip load. Onsrud is happy to advise you on the right amount of chips for all of its cutters to easily achieve excellent edge quality.
