I bought these to wear under the waist belt of a backpack where the belt buckle is uncomfortable at best or painful at worst (wish someone had good hiking pants with a drawstring waist and a 36 Customs service) . The original is better than the deluxe! Thinner, lighter and less rigid. The "rubber" coating on the ends does not interfere or bother in any way. If you have trouble choosing a version, choose the original Loopbelt. It's such a simple product that there really isn't much to say about it.
