I bought a 2 pack black to try a non-HP print cartridge in my HP 8600 printer. The cost was much less than A cartridge HP. That worked fine for a while. I installed it 5 months ago and it has been printing for a while. Black text was acceptable. I don't use my 8600 for photography, so I can't comment on that. I made a small mistake buying non-HP inks, but I decided to take a chance as there are 2 packs for $10 instead of $42 for a pack were of the "hp" brand. This year we are being homeschooled and using a lot of printer ink. I am pleased to report that you cannot distinguish this ink from a "famous brand" ink. Doesn't work with HP8600. Don't buy an HP printer! HP engineers created firmware so only HP ink works with HP8600 - completely ridiculous! For example, even if the yellow ink runs out, a page like TEXT WILL NOT PRINT AT ALL! Make sure you know two things when buying a new printer: 1. Will it work with a different ink supplier? 2. This product has a near perfect rating. Prevented that today. My attorney sent me the documents to print and save as that was the fastest and time was of the essence. I was typing and noticed that all of the black and white text was missing entire lines.
