Saying this thing is solid is like saying Everest is just a mountain. This thing is VERY well built. I use this as a mount to hold my light/siren controls in my POV. I had to make an adapter plate, there were no problems with that. Recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to drill holes in their dash to hold a smaller siren/light controller. Reliable and durable block. I use it in my SUV and some vehicle cup holders (if available) when not using a Ram mount in my van. I attached it to the Ram Tab Mount for I Pad mini which is used to store the Otter protective case. I haven't broken anything. He seems to be handling the weight quite well. Fits most modern car cup holders. My '97 Ford Expedition SUV and I put it in an extra cup holder next to the passenger air vent near the radio console.

Looks like a good mount, but the supplied screw is too short. I can barely turn the thumbscrew 1/2-3/4 turn. This makes it very difficult to put together and then once installed in the car any minor adjustment - loosening the thumbscrew - can cause the thing to fall apart as there is almost no adjustment range (imagine you try adjusting this thing while driving and poke the radio in the ground) and the knurled insert (brass?) will self destruct over time with so few threads.
