Instructions state that when drilling thrown bricks, the drill should be screwed into the mandrel, do not use locking pins. Arbor. I was lucky enough to use locking pins to lock the crown.
I bought this to cut holes in plaster and metal batten ceilings for recessed lighting - and it worked perfectly. Each hole was cut in 20-30 seconds which is way faster than my old method. He even got through the wood paneling behind some of the holes, though not as fast. The hole saw doesn't seem to wear out at all after 8 holes. I was expecting the metal bar to hit something on it, but it cut through with no problem. This is my new method for making holes in plaster.

I had to cut a 3 inch hole in my brick wall of my 1950's ranch in order to to install a mini split air conditioner. To be honest, using this hole saw to face brick was a pain. Extremely slow progress. The brick resists this crown strongly. It probably took 3-4 hours to drill directly, then hollow out the pieces and punch a core through 4-5 inch brick again. However, drilling the outer and inner walls of the cinder block cavity only took about 10 minutes per wall. Of course, you'll need an arbor
