Mazuri Rodent Food for Rats and Mice Review

Soft African furs love a high-protein diet, so these blocks are ideal for them. They love the taste too! I feed mine this first and then supplement her diet daily with veggies, fruit, pasta, maggots, or other healthy snacks. I agree with some of the other reviewers when they say that mazuri should sell this food in big bags. That would be my only suggestion for improvement.

I use this on my dwarf hamster along with the Higgens Sunburst Seed Mix! I don't feed him alone because hamsters need variety and seed mix alone is not a sufficient source of protein. Mazuri is great for this source. My hamster doesn't like it but I also make sure he eats everything before giving him 50-50 of each again. Many blocks were broken upon delivery. Don't know if it's shipping.

My rats (2 females) love it but it's quite high in rat protein! I believe this is 23% crude protein, while 12-15% is ideal for rats. IF USING THIS WITH RATS, PLEASE ADD FRUITS, VEGETABLES AND SAFE CEREALS TO THEIR DIET TO REDUCE THEIR PROTEIN CONSUMPTION AND IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH! :) Otherwise it's a great competition! And it would be good for young rats that have higher protein needs.

This food is amazing! I have 3 rats and each gets 5-6 pellets a day. A 2 lb bag took me almost 3 weeks to give you an idea of how many rats you are feeding. The biggest plus of this feed is that there is NO odor in his enclosure. I use aspen bedding and clean it every other day. I've had rats before. You smell. not on the Mazurian diet. ZERO smell. I would recommend buying it from Mazury's website. You can get a 25 pound bag for $20.

I like it when they ask me to report the taste of mouse food. I had a hard time getting rat pellets while trying to distance myself. It was a convenient way to order and receive a good product that gives me peace of mind and something hard for rats to chew on rather than ruining things to cut my teeth. Rats need this and are afraid their teeth won't be sheared or worn down while chewing, which can lead to health problems. Mazuri rat chow is practically the gold standard for rat and mouse lab pads. You can't go wrong. However, there is always room for improvement. Four suggestions from Mazuri. 1) Make it less crumbly and dusty. When rats eat blocks, the blocks leave behind more food dust than most other blocks. This can be improved. 2) Make your lab blocks taste a little better. My girls seem to prefer Oxbow and Kaytee over Mazuri.
