Good toy for toddlers

My 20 month old often sits and plays with this toy. He doesn't really like the hammer, so instead he pushes the pieces piece by piece with his hands. He laughs as opposite parts appear. I'm glad the pieces don't come out of the little wooden table so there's nothing left to collect at the end of the day. It looks sturdy enough to last, despite the plastic parts. My son has dropped the table so many times and it still looks brand new. This is one of the toys I use to teach my son colors and…

Original better

Bought this toy for my 2 year old nephew. I was not expecting that. It looks and has the same basic concept of a classic toy I played with as a kid. This is a good wood, but it has a terrible flaw. The pins don't fit the board exactly! What's the point of this topic! It's easy to press with your finger (kid) and is so loose that it doesn't stay where you hit it. Now that I think about it, having the pieces fall out was half the fun of the toy too. A bit disappointing but I think it's still fun…

Broke down in a week

Bought for my son when he was very little because my nephew had it a year ago and he loved it! I even decided to buy my friends a baby just because I remembered that my nephews are very strong! About a week after my son started pounding the pegs, they slipped off his gaming table and shattered! Every detail has been mislaid (mind you, he's only 15 months old). I am a huge Melissa and Doug fan and would only buy these toys for my daughter due to their durability but I am very disappointed in…

More broken stuff. Never again.

I bought this a while ago as a birthday gift for my 2 year old twins. It seemed like a good deal as I thought Melissa & Doug had a reputation for making a quality product. I think I'll do a little more research next time. With normal use it didn't even last a week. The dowel running below was not firmly glued. It was like suffocating. Luckily we were able to accommodate all the details. As you can see from the attached photo, none of the pieces of wood are actually broken. They're just not of…

Mine is 12 months old. best in hammer toys

I gave this to my son for his first birthday and he LOVES it. The pins don't retract which is one of the main reasons I bought this thing. The last thing I want is to step on another stupid toy thing. The pegs, top and sides are made of wood, while the bottom is made of plastic. The plastic is like a swing at the bottom so the pins pop out when you hit it with a hammer. The hammer is made of wood, so even if the crumb isn't strong enough to hit hard, the hammer will do some of the work. BUT. A…

Do you know your child - be it Thor or Odin?

I am torn when I look at this toy. And here's why: The toy is definitely of high quality, it won't fall apart, it won't break unless subjected to massive violence. It definitely develops motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and even thinking skills, as deciding which colors should be up, down, or on the same level requires complex decisions and physical application. So, the toy is a great toy! But . . Basically you give the kid a miniature of Thor's hammer. Not a hollow plastic hammer, mind…

Love Simple Toys for Baby and Toddler Toys

I have a grandson who turned 2 earlier this month and really doesn't like kids toys. He has an older sister and likes to play with her stuff, but that's inappropriate for his age, so I wanted to find something that would grab and hold his attention. I spent hours one night looking through toys and couldn't find anything that I didn't think would tire after a day. There are so many useless toys for kids that just don't last. I like solid wood toys when I can find them. I really like Doug and…

He likes it - me.

Let me start by saying that I love all Melissa and dog toys in general. These are simple, high quality products. I've been thinking about getting some sort of splitting device for a while and figured that around 2.5 years old would probably be the right time, especially since my son is currently keen to keep everything in the house (including the dogs and me) to repair". ). by hitting with plastic keys and screwdrivers. I've seen so many toys where the pins go through too easily (what's the…
