Life is shorter than I would like.

The old style with synthetic fibers holds up much better than this one. I change my socks fairly regularly and while the three old ones that are no longer for sale still work, these wear out much quicker. That's a little disappointing.

    Pros
    • Test for one year
    Cons
    • I really have no complaints about it, everything is fine

Good hiking socks but not my favorite

Bought these socks for a long trip through 7 national parks with the goal of covering as many trails as possible. Bought these along with three packs of Bomba's hiking socks. They worked well and were comfortable. However, if I had the opportunity, I would just buy more bombs. My feet were visibly sweaty in them compared to dry bomb socks. Still good for the price.

    • High marks for support and durability from testers

    Poor fit, worst quality

I was looking for heavy wool blend socks for my size 13ft. You looked good. Although they looked beautiful, that was the only good thing about them. The elastic opening was so uncomfortably tight on my legs that I couldn't even pull them up very high. The second pair I tried to put on, one's heel broke just as I was trying to put my socks on. So the trash can was nearby. There they ended.

    Pros
    • Great price
    Cons
    • Questionable purchase for senior

For $2-$3 more, buy a sock you'll love for years.

These socks are phenomenal. I've been wearing wool socks for hiking and hiking for decades. Now that the cold and rainy weather is upon us I've picked these bottom socks along with a cheaper brand for my morning walks. Cheaper socks keep rolling off my feet after 2 hours. Whereas these Merrell wool socks have been on my feet for over 48 hours and 6 miles of non-stop running and they still fit snugly. I DON'T WANT TO REMOVE THEM! :)

Good socks but durability is questionable!

Love these socks. I got three pairs for Christmas (shades of grey) and I really like these socks for the size and comfort. Great cool weather socks for everyday use. So I ordered three more pairs in tan. These are my new favorite winter socks for everyday use. Update October 2020: This fall, as the weather got cooler, I started wearing my favorite wool socks again, only to find that after washing, holes started appearing in them. These are holes, not thin signs of wear. Thus, their durability…

Be sure to wear these socks before the return period ends

I bought these socks about 6 weeks ago and wore them for the first time today. I went to see a friend's daughter play basketball in 5th grade. I wore these socks in my Lucchese boots for about 2 hours and when I took the boots off there were two 1/4 inch holes at the top of my left ankle. I can't say for sure they weren't there when I put the boots on, but whether these socks either arrived damaged or lasted less than 2 hours I will definitely not be buying any more Merrell branded clothing.

    • Best in niche

    Great low-cut brown socks

It's very hard to find low-cut brown socks. I bid on this although the smallest size available was M/L which should fit US men between 9.5 and 12.0. I usually wear size 8.5-9.0 shoes, but these socks fit. I liked them more than many other options because they contain 25-32% wool (the rest is acrylic, nylon and lycra) while the others I found didn't. I prefer wool as it is a moisture wicking natural fabric. These are lightweight, cushioned hiking socks. So if you are looking for really thin…

These socks, like some wool socks from other brands, need to be chosen one size larger. That means those of us who are size 10 and up will have to buy XL instead of L. Merrell states this for a size 12+. I am 12.5. These socks are too loose. They are also not as warm or thick. However, they address and solve the age-old problem of the double sock. This is the perfect second layer. I bought another set because they make a great winter sock solution if you wear a full sock over a short one in…
