Description of MICHELIN Latitude Sport 3 235/60 R18 103W summer
Meet the MICHELIN Latitude Sport 3, an ultra high performance tire for SUVs and crossovers with sporty performance and superior wet and dry grip.
The Michelin Latitude Sport 3 summer passenger tire is one of the latest developments from the French tire giant. This time, the novelty is intended for powerful sports crossovers, the maximum speed of which far exceeds 200 km / h. This model not only delivers top performance, but also boasts a combination of fuel efficiency and long service life. To do this, French specialists had to completely revise the carcass design, tread pattern and rubber compound, which received a number of innovations.
Increased number of gripping edges.
For obvious reasons, the specialists of the French company preferred not to abandon the symmetrical tread pattern, which proved to be the best on the previous model with the number 2 in the name. It is still divided into several functional zones: the central part, surrounded on both sides by wide shoulder zones.
The center section of the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 has been redesigned the most. The three longitudinal ribs that make it up have been significantly enlarged, resulting in a significant improvement in a number of tire characteristics. First of all, it is exchange rate stability and efficiency of management.
In addition, each of the longitudinal ribs received an additional set of transverse edges, which made it possible to improve grip during acceleration and braking, especially on wet roads. These grip edges are formed by special sipes, which, among other things, increase the rigidity of the longitudinal ribs, further reducing rolling resistance.
Upgraded rubber compound.
The rubber compound has undergone no less significant changes. At the same time, there are innovations not only in its composition, but also in manufacturing technology, which provides a more uniform distribution of all components, thereby making it possible to achieve uniform tread properties. As for the composition, silicon-containing components of a new generation appeared in it. Thanks to them, it was possible to significantly improve grip on wet roads, as well as the resistance of the tread to abrasive wear, which, in turn, led to a significant increase in the life of the entire tire.
Reinforced frame construction.
The main innovation in the design of the carcass was the double breaker layer. This was enough to not only make the tire stronger, but also provide it with increased resistance to deformation changes that occur during movement. As a result, the Latitude Sport 3 compares favorably with the previous model in terms of both handling and fuel consumption.
Short braking distance on wet roads.

Pros
- Not noisy Holds skids well on dry and wet pavement Real manufacturer's warranty
Cons
- Delicate sidewall Pretty fast wear Poor traction in cold weather Price
Pros
- Quiet Does not feel the track (Set the pressure correctly!) Soft
Cons
- Only for perfect asphalt because Very weak side
Pros
- Holds the road well, soft, rut is not felt.
Cons
- Didn't notice
Pros
- Low noise, softness, excellent information content and a well-defined zero zone
Cons
- Expensive tires, possibly high wear propensity
Pros
- In general, I haven’t felt it yet, maybe the steering wheel has become a little more informative
Cons
- Noisy, keeps track on 3+
Pros
- Controllability, low noise, does not zatchgivaet in a rut
Cons
- Until I discovered
Pros
- Excellent road holding
Cons
- Weak sidewall. Hong Konganent punctures
Pros
- excellent grip, wear resistance and softness
Cons
- price, not repaired
Pros
- Good directional stability at high speeds. Do not float in deep puddles.
Cons
- Noise in the city
Pros
- Relatively soft, puddles pass very well, slow down well on any summer surface, fairly strong sidewall.
Cons
- They behave very unpleasantly in a rut - they constantly need to be monitored, they are erased extremely quickly (I passed 25 thousand kilometers on them in total).
Pros
- - quiet; - soft; - it is not necessary to "warm up the rubber" for the first 10-15 minutes to achieve normal grip (unlike the "oak" Dunlop Sport SP Maxx, Yokohama Advan Sport and other "sports" tires); - good braking; - adequately drains water (until a new one even at 170 km / h in significant rain emerges, what will happen next, we'll see).
Cons
- - boring tread pattern (I don't care, but someone likes asymmetric rubber or directional pattern more); - average grip when cornering (this is a direct consequence of the softness); - high price.
