Description of MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup 2 245/35 R20 95Y summer

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 is a summer racing model for supersport cars. Provides excellent handling and quick "painless" braking, so that supercars can fully realize their potential on dry pavement. The low-profile 2014 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 model (Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2), as they say, without having had time to leave the assembly line, was immediately enlisted in the ranks of the factory equipment of the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Porsche 918 Spyder and Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series . The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tire is specifically designed for high-speed passenger cars that can be used both on closed racing tracks and on public roads. When creating this model, the main emphasis was placed on obtaining maximum stability and controllability when driving at high speeds. This manufacturer is very popular and is known for its innovative solutions that it uses to create tires. The best materials and technical achievements of the tire industry were used in the development of this model. As a result, the tire is stable and manageable at all speeds. This was achieved as a result of the use of a new tread pattern and an updated compound. The new tread pattern has an extended profile. Due to this, it was possible to increase stability at high speeds. Two rows of central wide blocks provide confident directional stability and accelerated feedback. Wide shoulder blocks increase cornering stability while protecting the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire from a wide range of damage. Deep channels in the center of the tread quickly move water out of the contact zone, minimizing hydroplaning. The increased number of sipes reduces driving noise and creates a "sticking" effect on wet road surfaces. Even in heavy rain and at high speeds, the tire has excellent stability and handling. When creating the compound, a large number of new components were used, and the percentage of old additives was also changed. Since the tire is often used at higher speeds, its elasticity has been increased. For this, a new silica was used, it also made it possible to accelerate the recovery characteristics of the tread, which not only reduced the load on the suspension elements, but also increased ride comfort. The updated rubber compound has excellent wear resistance, even when used at maximum speeds, it has a long service life. Since the tire is subjected to increased loads when driving at high speeds, this model uses a special frame of increased strength. When it was created, a new strong cord and special steel tapes were used, which prevent the tread from breaking in case of overloads. The main features of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tire: - excellent handling and stability ...

First of all, I liked the tire's versatility, no matter how stupid it may sound. Perfectly suited my absurd requirements - the city and the track. And there, and there she is good. Compared to the Hankook R-S3, of which I've worn three sets before, it's faster on the track (on the order of a second to one and a half from a 3k lap) and holds up much better in the city when it's cold. On the track, its character is more civil compared to the same R-S3: there is no sharp breakdown. At first it…

Pros
  • Excellent traction on a dry track. In the wet, these tires surprised even more, although they are inferior to some other models. Compared to other tires of about the same class, the Cup 2 was very pleased in the city. In a cold state without warming up, they are practically not inferior to good city tires. Tolerably hold even on wet pavement at temperatures slightly above zero. The sidewall is of medium hardness, which is not very good on the track, but it pleases in the city - the car does not need to be caught when rutting on the road. As it wears out on dry pavement, the traction properties practically do not change, which many other Cup 2 competitors cannot boast of.
Cons
  • These high-tech tires are very pressure demanding. Michelin has even released a special brochure that helps you calculate the optimal pressure from the table. Otherwise, the tires on the track are simply in danger of destruction. Quite noisy, but for a sport-oriented tire, this is normal. They wear out relatively quickly, but their resource is still greater than that of the R-S3, about one and a half times. Price.
