High capacity Micron drive with good life expectancy.

For enterprise SSDs this option seems to be available. The disk write speed of 0.8 was a good balance for the intended disk usage. Being a micron is also a plus. As with all corporate devices, do your homework. I compared Intel, HP and newer Segate SSD. The main factors were warranty, life expectancy depending on usage and price. For half the fare in horsepower if it's worth it. Will be updated when something changes.

Pros
  • Encryption standard: 256 bit
Cons
  • Some difficulties

I ordered 24 of these - none had a problem.

Decent performance for the price - definitely faster than SAS 10k drives when it comes to IOPS. Those 10,000 SAS can run slightly faster on sequential reads. Reading a sequential large file got me around 1GB/s, but swapping out for these SATA SSDs got me around 700MB/s - still good enough for what I need. But the BIG improvement is virtual machine loading. If I need to shut down the server and spin up 7-10 VMs, it's done in about 30 seconds. Whereas those 10,000 SAS drives took 10-15 MINUTES.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Updates available
