🖤 Black Fine Grater from Microplane Elite Series Review

I bought this grater after the handle broke off in the store. This grater is solid and seems a lot stronger than the old one. It's very sharp and works well enough that I plan to buy a coarse version to replace my grater.

Replaced the old one with this new design, more durable, easy to use and the back gauge is really cool. Their products are the best on the market and designed for everyday use. So many uses from cooking to smoothies that every kitchen should have.

This is a great kitchen tool. Grates cheese very well. I also found that it did well with raw ginger. I find the slide on the container works great and doesn't cause much chaos (a few things slide off the front, but no more than expected).

One dishwasher and the lid has broken and no longer grips the handle, it's only a matter of time before the lid's cutting surface becomes damaged during storage and use, putting chips at risk. Overall a good tool but disappointing that it isn't as durable as it should be for the price.

Microplane makes the best graters, but I've had to throw away previous models because the handle came off or the frame broke. Also, they were a bit uncomfortable to hold in hand. This one looks very solid - the handle with a grater is one-piece (a whole metal handle - without joints); the plastic frame around it is not clear plastic that will crack and eventually disintegrate when washed in the dishwasher; and the shape is very comfortable to hold.

I bought this product for convenience, but then I realized that the ingredient savings made it worth it! I used it to peel off lemons and oranges to make a recipe. I used a whole lemon and a whole orange less than before and got more zest and juice than before. After about five bakes of this recipe, the microplane was free! The measuring "catcher" on the back is also great. The taste of the peel has become better, more aromatic and less bitter. Get one of these!
