Does the job as advertised.

I am using this to connect my MS Surface Pro 2 to my TV/AV system so I can watch NY Rangers on MSG Go. I have a streaming service that includes MSG, but sometimes the game is on MSG2 or MSG+ and then it works.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons

Does NOT support Oculus on Surface Book 2

Doesn't work on my Surface Book 2. Never fits as a secondary display. I was hoping this would fill the gap Microsoft created due to the lack of an HDMI port on the SB2. It's not like this. No Oculus on the car. Spring.

Surface Book 2: Connectors & Adapters

I'm not the most tech savvy. I'm just really glad this worked great on my Surface Book 2 the first time I tried it after purchasing the wrong product. Plug it into my laptop, plug it into my HDMI cable and I can see and hear my laptop on mine. WATCH TV. That's a wonderful thing.

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • No Insurance

Decent adapter - accessories and consumables

When used with my 15" Surface Book 2 monitor it sometimes flickers which is quite annoying and kind of defeats the purpose of using the adapter. I don't know if it's the software or the adapter itself, but sometimes it's a problem. This is intermittent and not constant, making it difficult to troubleshoot.

Only works great with Microsoft products

Works great with surfaces, that's why I bought it. However, the Samsung 8 Galaxy Note keeps saying that it detects moisture in the connector and doesn't work. Works great for Surface Book Pro 2 but not other devices I've tested. On the other hand, I bought an $80 USB-C device with Ethernet, HDMI, and SD card + another USB port, and it works great with my Samsung Note. 8 and Surface Book 2. But for half the price, you get what you pay for. This works as advertised for Surface, but not for other…

Doesn't work with my surface book 2

I bought this adapter for my new surface book 2, it only has a USB-C port so I needed an adapter to project my screen for meetings. I tried several third party adapters but they only worked intermittently. I decided to try the Microsoft adapter with the Surface Book 2, even though it's more expensive than other third-party manufacturers on the market. I'm disappointed that this adapter didn't work well with my Surface Book 2, performance was inconsistent - I couldn't get it to work consistently

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Security

Works great on my Surface Book 2 --> HDMI 2.0 / 4K = NO!

Ok. Time for a bandwidth lesson. This little guy is great at what he does. This is a USB-C HDMI 2.0 device that allows you to connect your MS Surface to your display/TV. HOWEVER - my Surface Book 2 USB-C port is ONLY a USB3.1 Gen1 port with a maximum speed of 5Gbps (less if you count the USB overhead). What about HDMI? HDMI 1.4 = 10.8Gbps (1080p 120Hz / 4K 30Hz) HDMI 2.0 = 18.2Gbps (1080p 240Hz / 4k 60Hz) With Surface Book 2. That's 50% LESS than even the OLD ONE HDMI specification. Long story…
