Midland Radio Kit

I ordered a microkit kit from here which was supposed to include the antenna and a few other attachments and all I got was the radio

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Sad hardware

Fine. Not worth much.

Good radio. You need a noise reduction slider, not an activated menu item. In addition, the tiny speaker distorts most voices at high volumes. I keep asking people to repeat it.

Pros
  • The best
Cons
  • Periodicity

The best beat on the dollar.

Best value for money. Small size and all controls are in the microphone pocket. The only problem is switching between pl and dol codes during travel. It would be useful to be able to store additional channels like Chinese radios.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Difficult to remember, but it was

Good radio, missing in the box

The radio works as it should, easy to set up. But I noticed that the box it came in had been previously opened and that the small antenna, instructions and mounting hardware were missing. Using the ghost antenna, I've had clear transmission and reception for about 6 miles in rural Iowa.

Pros
  • Something inside
Cons
  • No instructions

Worked fine but not the product advertised

Like the title it worked fine for what it was but don't worry about that $189 version. This is the same as the $140 version. I ordered the package once and received a smaller and weaker antenna. Called Amazon and they replaced it for free but got the same package as before. It's just a weaker antenna and a slightly more expensive product. However, it worked.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • too stupid

Excellent radio coverage

I hooked this up at a cabin in the Rocky Mountains and my wife and I were able to communicate on channel 15 (one of the "high power" channels) via a portable device . Midland Radio on my end as I climbed a mountain about 10 miles away. And that only with the small, short antenna that is included in the scope of delivery; next year I might update this piece. Obviously everything was clearer when I was higher in the mountains and our connection was more "line of sight". However, it exceeded my…

Pros
  • Expensive but decent

I'm glad I bought this!

We have used a Cobra CB radio in combination with a Firestik antenna and have always been disappointed with the quality of this setup. We did some digging and decided to give Midland a try and are so glad we did! Installation was easy due to the overall dimensions of the unit and the mounting hardware. I love the fact that little to no setup is required and the performance is great. Microphone volume is excellent and the backlight makes the display easy to read. I am very satisfied with the…
