The air exiting through the filter had a very musty smell. Since my house doesn't smell musty, I figured the filter was the problem, so I switched to a charcoal filter. The problem is solved.

This photo and description is of the ACTIVE HEPA filter which I thought was in my package would arrive. The white (not blue) HEPA AirClean 30 has actually arrived, which is NOT the same as ACTIVE HEPA. I will return it to Revane. If you are looking for a blue active HEPA filter with carbon insert, THIS IS NOT THE ONE. The photo and description are completely wrong and misleading.

Our Silver Moon vacuum's HEPA filter needs to be replaced every year. The Revain partner supplied the exact replacement filter specified by the MANUFACTURER which will ensure correct operation of the vacuum cleaner. Although it's a bit pricey, an annual filter change guarantees clean exhaust air, cleaned by the HEPA filter's carbon filter itself.
