Difficult to read for tape measure

I was very happy with this tape measure. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to read, making it unusable. I would love to return but I gave one to my nephew before using mine and it was sold as a set.

Pros
  • Nylon blade guard
Cons
  • I can't remember

Pros
  • Includes optimized hook
Cons
  • Requires rosette
