Mitutoyo 950 301 Steel Pocket Rule Review

When I ordered the 182-101 for my desk, I also ordered it to keep in my tool bag or in my shirt pocket at work. The engraved markings are precise, clear and easy to read. The exit is just right. My only complaint is that it doesn't lay flat. The 0.35mm feeler gauge slides under the center. But for $4 with change, I'm happy. Plus, it's made in the USA!

I carry it in my travel bag. I don't have room for anything particularly large or heavy, but sometimes I need to make a straight edge and that's pretty handy. If I'm careful I can almost use the little clamp as a miniature T-square, although it's not accurate when it works that way, and it helps speed up measuring things that don't need to be super accurate, just drawn fast and fair the size. I like this product for its design and durability. I gave it 3 stars because it's easy to read just because it's a small ruler and for cramming so many numbers into so little space that they have to be printed very small. So, at 60 and without an eagle eye, reading can be a bit difficult. But you young people probably won't have a problem with that. What worries me the most is that the slider that helps with measuring can become detached fairly easily and if you lose it, this ruler is worthless
