Image quality Terrible

Test multiple input devices and cables, it only accepts 1080 input even though I know my devices support 4K. The output quality has deteriorated, not worth it.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons

Won't convert 4K to 1080p

I bought this device to convert 4K HDMI video to 1080p HDMI video. Every time I switch the source to 4k I get a message saying it's not a supported format.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Some flaws

This allows the Apple TV to work with other all-analog receivers

I've been in the AV industry for decades. HDMI is good but not very compatible with previous versions. Along with an HDMI to component converter (video only), this still allows full surround sound output via optical and analog stereo to legacy component receivers. Zone 2 receivers typically require analog audio.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Security

Worked as advertised right out of the box.

This device converted the camcorder from 1080i to 720p. I use it to transfer camera video to Blackmagic ATEM TV Studio for our church to stream. We have the original ATEM, so it can only accept 1080i (not 1090p). I had to set my camera to 720p and this device did it right away. Very satisfied!

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Almost never

The refresh rate went from 30Hz to 60Hz, but the picture was terrible.

I bought a new slightly larger TV that doesn't like the 30 Hz my computer is putting out. On my old 4K TV it works fine at 30Hz so no converter needed. An old TV can also handle 60Hz. I tried the converter with both old and new TV. Both TVs showed the input as 60Hz and the new TV received a signal, but the picture quality was so distorted that it was painful to watch. Both HDMI cables were rated at 4k, 60Hz.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • I don't have any negative feelings about it, it's ok

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overpriced but it worked and only one problem.

I have a 1080p TV with horrible upscaling from 720p (10-15% clipping when upscaling) and used it to pop a 720p PS3 signal into a 1080p container and it worked , no more image clipping. I used mine cheaply (about $32) so it wasn't overpriced for me. The only problem I have is very light color streaks. Which is hardly noticeable unless you compare them with each other. When I used this with my PS3 there was no noticeable input lag either so it works for me.

Pros
  • Sleek Design
Cons
  • Damaged

Output processing only

No input resolution limit (maximum 720, 1080 etc. for a device that only recognizes a maximum resolution device, such as those that don't have this permission) Settings like Android that limit only the output device properties determine. In other words, if your Android device has to programmatically output at a higher resolution than it natively, it's going to be slow, slow, slow. In my case, Stadia outputs to a Qualcom 865+ device but with a 1080p screen (One + 8). When outputting via HDMI…
