Invest in the right tool.

Nice little kit. I was forced to buy it out of my own stupidity (I bought a chain breaking tool and link press tool but forgot to buy a riveting tool), but I've found the good old tool to make the job easier. And I had to complete the task 3 times (again, I'm pretty stupid). By the third time I had fully mastered the instrument and appreciated its design.

It works well when used properly

Chain tool works. But I broke the needle, it was my fault. You need to use the tool properly when pushing out the link pin, let the tool rotate, then pull back a little to relieve the tool, then move forward again. In this case, the tool works much better. I also suggest you do some research on rivets. The trick is to slow down again between turns and pull back, but also allow room for the chain rivet to expand so you can't touch the outside of the tool. chain, leave about 1/8 inch of space and

I do not recommend

The tool is not very good. I used to (1) break and install the main link in the DID520 chain. The 3.8mm pin used to break the chain broke inside the tool with very little force. I then had to use another tool to finally break the chain. When I installed the main link, the anvil that presses against the side plate collapsed. DID recommends 0.217-0.228" as the final master link rivet diameter for the chain I am using. The anvil broke and the master link rivet diameter was .220", the tooling parts

Does it work in tool kits

Before purchasing I researched a number of different manufacturers of this type of product. Almost everyone had reviews of the 1st and 2nd saying it broke right away. In my opinion, it's because the people who wrote the reviews didn't research how to use it properly. The metal is really soft on these instruments. But if used correctly, they won't break. The real problem with these tools is that you have to align them exactly and make sure that all threads are lubricated. The reason I didn't…

Thought it was one of the best deals out there?

I purchased the MotionPro chain breaking/rivet tool set after reading online reviews. The kit comes with everything you need to get the job done, but I wasn't impressed with the kit's functionality. First I had to break my 520 o-ring free chain on my bike. Everything went well and after 15 minutes I removed the chain from the bike according to the instructions. I then had to remove two more links from the chain for the new smaller sprocket I was installing when the breaker pin actually broke! I

Riveting very good on fluids & maintenance

I bought this tool solely for chain riveting. I have a separate Motion Pro chain breaker that I use on 530 chain after grinding the rivets flush. I think a lot of the negative reviews about this tool must be due to misuse of the tool. I am good with my tools and I know the limitations of their intended use. Even the best tool breaks if used improperly. That being said, there are much cheaper chain breaking tools out there than this one. So if you really want to break chains, just buy a special…
