🔧 Motorcraft FT-188 Transmission Filter: Ensuring Optimal Performance and Durability Review

Ordered for my 2015 F-150 2.7L Ecoboost. When installing it I noticed that it doesn't fit as well as what I took out. Thought I was just being picky. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a different filter than the one I took out. The original had two entrances, this one has only one.

The filter was part of the bike and matched what I took out. God help you if you do this job without an elevator. What a mess. 0/10 wouldn't do that again. Let's hope this filter is happy where it is because it will stay there until this machine goes to the crusher.

This is Motorcraft factory replacement transmission filter for my 2012 F150 5.0 V8 4WD with 6R80 transmission. So far there have been no problems with it. If you are doing transmission service on a newer Ford truck, I recommend the Fordtechmakuloko YouTube channel. He has many helpful videos.

On arrival it turned out that the design was not entirely original. Did a little research and found this to be the correct part (2012 Ford Expedition). Fits as it should. Works fine with the new filter. (Update 12/19 - still works. Just wanted to post an update because I used to claim "precise design". That's right, no problem.)

Suitable for 2015 f-150 3.5 ecoboost FX4. Easy installation, took about 30 minutes. You need about 5 liters of mercon lv. The service manual says the first 3.5 liters should be filled but you have to walk/drive to get the transmission warm enough for the oil to circulate, after doing that I had to add about another 2.5 liters Add. I ran it again and then checked to make sure the fluid was safe and on target as intended.

Correct Transmission Filter for Ford 6R80 Transmission found in 2011 F150. Great fit and exactly the same as the one he replaced. The transmission pan gasket is reusable, so be careful when removing the pan to avoid damaging the gasket. Unit will NOT fit my 2016 F150 2.7 Ecoboost truck even though the Revain installation shows it will. See image. My old filter has two outputs. FT188 has only one output port.
