Don't Buy Brake Bleed Tool

Bought this a year ago and finally used it for the first time today to flush the brake fluid on my truck. On the first wheel cylinder I pumped it up to about fifteen pounds of vacuum and the grip fell off. I found the metal pin that secures the handle and after about ten minutes of effort I screwed it back on. Inflated a second time and the pen shifted and fell out again. Now, for the second time, looking at other reviews, it seems obvious that others have encountered the same error. I can't…

MityVac makes no warranty - DO NOT BUY

I have a MityVac MV8000 brake bleeder that was purchased less than a year ago. The user manual clearly states a one year warranty for this unit but the manufacturer's customer service told me they would not honor it as it was purchased from Revain. They will only comply if purchased through another authorized retailer. I'm sure it's illegal and they're probably counting on people not doing it because it's only $30. Place of purchase like I bought it in someone's trunk at 2am.

Very helpful but wish it was easier

I have mixed feelings about this device. I had to completely replace the brake line, which took about 24 hours of work, and I needed a device that would help return fluid to the lines and eliminate air bubbles. Well it was extremely difficult to get the hose tight enough to keep the air out. I'm around the hose connection on the exhaust valve. It took a long time to understand this. The hose ended up being so tight that it actually stretched and broke when I took it off, but it was still…

Bad article in Brake Bleeding Tool

When it came time to bleed the brake fluid from my classic Trans Am, I got the 8000 out right away. Since I didn't have a helper to bleed the brake pedal and gravity was too slow, this tool should help I thought. It's not like this! What happened was a surprise. When inflating the device to a vacuum of 15 Hg. Art. part of the liquid collected in the plastic container got into the pressure gauge and handle. I stopped what I was doing and as I did the pin holding the plunger came loose and was…

Well it really sucks

The unit delivers great vacuum performance and the main plastic parts seem well constructed but a couple of really awful design decisions make this one of the most annoying of all use devices. The handle that you squeeze to power the device is attached to the pump by a small pin that is perpendicular to the pump shaft, which is held in a slot in the plastic lever so that when the handle is squeezed, the pin rests in its place small slit goes. , and pulls out the pump, giving you a vacuum…

Impractical - this Mighty Vac Sux

A professional mechanic friend of mine recommended this item to me. This cut my respect for his reputation in half: the first thing I did out of the box was put the parts together and do a mock test: I couldn't create a vacuum. The rim of the old brake fluid reservoir did not close. I thought the o-ring was missing. I carefully studied the instructions and came to the conclusion that there are no gaskets in the kit. In the end I tried all 6 orientations where the 4 ounce container snapped into…
