I have had several Nalgene products that I purchased locally. They are rigid and cannot be bent or squeezed to deform. Not only is the plastic on this bottle noticeably thinner, but it's also soft enough that I can bend and deform the bottle with one hand. Real Nalgene don't do that. original is the best. Yes, plastic taste and smell. Yes, it takes time to unravel. Just run it through the dishwasher and use it regularly and after a few months the taste/smell will be gone. No, there is no harm in drinking water from it. HDPE bottles like this are indestructible, lasting over 30 years and yes you can see the water level in them if your vision is really bad in which case you have to walk with a stick or a dog to guide you. Extremely disappointed. I've been using Nalgenes for 25 years. It's not at all what I expected, but seeing Revain seemed cool until I got it. It looks cheap and not opaque as you might think and I believe it is advertised. It looks like it has been sprayed with matte varnish. This is my absolute favorite water bottle! When you hit the water to row, it holds more water than usual, keeping the icy water cold during your workout, even on a hot (30 degree Fahrenheit) day.
