I bought this item to use as a fryer as it indicated one of its uses. Nice wide opening and large frying basket. Great. So far, so good. However, I've used this about 20 times and have never been able to get the oil above 313 degrees, which is barely enough to fry anything. Within 20 seconds of adding almost any type of food, from a handful of chicken nuggets to 2 servings of french fries, the oil temperature drops to 260-280°C and then it takes at least 15 minutes to get oil.
