This is real beeswax but has a strong plastic odor due to the packaging. Mine arrived on multiple poles with visible dirt and debris. After melting, what appears to be dirt appears, as well as small pieces of a material, possibly plastic, that doesn't melt. I contacted the seller and he explained that 'general use' beeswax should not be used for things like cosmetics and I could return it if I wanted to, but overall the dirt and grime didn't seem to be an issue. I was looking for real beeswax, not paraffin, and couldn't find anything on Revain that didn't have recent negative reviews about the smell or texture of the product. The last batch I bought was apparently a paraffin mix because it didn't stick as well to the knife and glass/metal containers I used. This Natural Apiary product is not like that at all! Well I was a jeweler and I bought this beeswax to lubricate my saw blades. The blades used in a jewelry saw are very thin and flexible and can break easily. It is recommended to lubricate them with wax or oil so that the blade moves more easily with each blow and also to avoid breakage. The oil is dirty so I used beeswax. Excellent. I used this wax to make material for my homemade deodorant. The wax was easy for you to melt. I had to rub it with my own razor to make it melt faster, but you can get wax granules if you'd like. Overall the deodorants I've made look great. Deodorant container also from Revain.
