ideal for general macro photography

Used for general macro photography, absolutely stable and does not wobble. But if you want to get an extreme focus stack with it, I think you can spend a little more money to find a better one.

Sturdy Macro Adjustment Slider

It's not easy to adjust them or get the insect to stay put, but if you want to create a focus stack or just want to predict the focus level, this is great. The adjustment is fixed and can be done in small steps. I bought this after having another one that also moved from side to side (but didn't hold the position). I recommend this model as durable and easy to use.

Solid Rail works best with tripods and monopods

I bought a metal worm gear for macro focusing. It's a solid, well-built device and the measurements appear to be accurate. The only downside in my opinion is that yes it fits Swiss Arca clamps but there is no screw stop so I found that as soon as I loosened the knob on my ball head which was at a slight angle it slipped out completely! Luckily my camera wasn't connected at the time. Also, I wish the adjustment knobs on the rail were on the sides rather than either end, but I'm sure I'll get…

Fits perfectly on some tripod heads

My device handled well and tracked without any noticeable lateral movement, which some reviewers point out ruining photo stacking. I used a sideworm macro rail, so getting used to the rear and/or front "cranking" takes a bit of getting used to. At first I thought the pitch was too small for my use, but it turned out to be perfect. Perfect for some, slow for others. Anyway, my block was very well done and I really like it. I'm thinking of installing this on a golf course as a pigtail to get to a

Not suitable for macro photography

This product is absolutely useless for macro photography and focus stacking. I wasn't expecting much from this rail since it was cheaper, but I certainly wasn't expecting as much horizontal movement as the rail moves back and forth every half mm. Every time you turn the knob forward or backward, the image moves side to side so much that you can't rely on the software to straighten the photos for you. In fact, using a focus guide should make aligning photos easier, not more difficult. At first I

overpriced and inferior

After very little use, the screw already has 45-60 degrees of play, which makes the adjustment very sloppy. The large handle is on the wrong end for my purposes but I can't figure out how they are attached. I'm afraid it might be some kind of glue. Tip: Remove the stupid silicone O-ring from the top. This is a big source of "faint jiggling". The large tripod screw dial had a recess filled with lots of heavy, thick, sticky, gooey, gooey grease. This made the thumbwheel very difficult to move. I…

Excellent workmanship and (relatively) easy troubleshooting

This focus stand is sold under different brand names at different prices. I chose Neewer because Neewer seems to be trying to create a brand name and thus be able to introduce some quality control into their offering. PREPARATION AND FINISHING The fit and finish of my unit is excellent. There is no play between the tripod body and the worm gear or in the camera mount when it is attached to the camera. (It's not a worm drive. The mechanism is a simple lead screw.) Some reviews here report some…
