OEMTOOLS 24338 100A Battery Tester Review

Autoz were diagnosing my wife's car and I bought this item based on my experience with this model type on older vehicles over the past few years. It turns out that this article correctly diagnosed the problem and if we had listened to autoz we would have spent a lot of money on their behalf. It's also desirable that it's not digital, which allows parts to be swapped out/repaired if necessary.

Good machine. Very convenient. After 5 actuations of the toggle switch, it was not possible to check the battery under load. It still measures the battery voltage even if there is enough charge voltage on the battery, but this can be checked with a simple multimeter. The first unit I ordered didn't work properly and gave me strange readings. The tester showed the battery surface charge at 8 VDC and dropped about half a volt when testing a suspected bad battery.
